is a singer who operates on the border of musical genres, primarily in the field of contemporary and experimental music. A lyric soprano, she studied opera singing at the Janáček Academy of Music in Brno (JAMU) and the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU).
After her studies, she developed a strong interest in free improvisation and extended vocal techniques, which she finds best combined in contemporary classical music. Her repertoire consists mainly of songs from the 20th and 21st centuries, both Czech and foreign. She is inspired by folk music and finds fulfillment in the connection of music and theatre.
Jana Vondrů collaborates with various ensembles, including the Ensemble Opera Diversa, the Dust in the Groove ensemble—which combines contemporary music, jazz, and improvisation—and the trio ConTRIOlogy, specializing in Czech and Slovak contemporary music.
In her solo work, she focuses on songs of the 20th and 21st centuries. She has collaborated with multi-instrumentalist Tomáš Vtípil on live projects and recorded vocal parts for radio and theatre plays. In 2023, she presented Francis Poulenc’s mono-opera *La voix humaine* in an adapted version for percussion instruments. She has also performed title roles in operas such as *The Diary of Anne Frank* by Grigori Fried.
In addition to her singing career, she organizes her own events called “Little Things,” which include Micro-operas and the small festival Sounds, Colors and Voices of the St. Anne Chapel.
