Èlia Brugulat

Èlia Brugulat is a contemporary dancer currently living between Barcelona and Vienna. Over the past few years, improvisation has been a central tool in her work as a performer, teacher, and researcher. She began her dance studies in her hometown, Barcelona, and continued her education through professional workshops and programs in Berlin, Havana, and most recently in Vienna. She also holds a degree in Art History and a Master’s in Contemporary Art and Cultural Theory, which have further shaped her artistic perspective.

Her artistic practice is guided by a desire for experimentation and a commitment to imagining alternative modes of sense-making through the body. She approaches the choreographic field as a poetic space, while also questioning the social architectures that configure our present. Rhythm lies at the core of her practice, not as a structure to follow, but as a living force through which everything finds articulation: movement alongside materials such as text, voice, and image.

In 2025, she joins FreeForms Collective in Vienna, a project through which she deepens her interest in music, improvisation and instant composition.
